Favorite Quote
"make it count". i can see this throughout the whole story as she fights for survival with the knowledge of her fathers teachings and gales hunting skills. she makes everything count.
"i sent that arrow flying through the pigs apple in its mouth from the center of the stage." i think this is just funny and in a way i can relat in how the attention was off of her and she had to prove a point and then sarcasticly walks off. the pig flew into the wall towards the gamemakers. and i can just see it. she did this mith a new bow and the first time to use it after a couple shots.

Summary
in district 12 there is a young teenage girl that stands up for her sister. Her name is Katniss Everdeen. she is always working hard to take care of her family. she ends up going to the games, the games is a fight to the death situation, killing all the other cotestants and the last one alive gets to live in peace with all their desires met with food and contentment.
Katniss chooses the weapon of a bow and gets it down good with the new strength of it compared to the one she used at home to hunt with. she uses it to take down her enemies. later throughout the book she seems to be drawn to peeta mellark a bakers son who she met but ounce along time ago when her father had died in a mining accident. the grow closer through out the hunger games fighting for survival. later peeta ends up getting hurt and loose alot of blood to the point where he almost did not make it. katniss riged up a turnaquit to wrap around his leg and keeps his tepurature. katniss finaly kills the last apponent with a shot from her bow in the evening (cato) and she sends it flying through his face. peeta and katniss are the last ones alive both from the same district 12 and are in a bind of who will die. peeta insists that she kill him but she says no and they both go for the poisones barries until right when they do the game makers anounce the two winners and they spew the barries out. they draw closer to eachother and do a few speeches andend up heading home they love eachother but she cant make up her mind.

Main Character's
Katniss- has a family of three and her father died in a mining accident. its her mother and her younger sister Prim. they live in district 12 and her mother has been in a depression; Prim on the other hand is a young girl growing up and looks to her older sister katniss. Katniss loves to care for her family and it makes her feel good to know that they are taken care of. She hunts, cooks, sells, trades, buys, and cleans. when she stands up for Primrose Everdeen, (her younger sister) she is 16.
Gale- i beleive he is the next main character even though he is not involved as much later in the book. and i think that katniss and gale like each other more than friends and wat not. He is a young man who likes to hunt. he calls katniss (katnip) because when she told him her name he miss took it for katnip and it just stuck. gale takes care of her family when katniss goes into the hunger game trials. he too also lives in the district 12.before katniss left he was well about six foot fourteen and like a grown man. they met in the woods while hunting.
Peeta Mellark- the bakers son. bigger guy and kinda reminds me of lenny in mice of men. he later in the book almost dies and also likes katniss; they are the two chosen for the hunger games one girl and one boy from every district. by the end of the book he has a plastic and metal leg and they walk out hand in hand home.
Cinna- katniss's stylist and id say mentor a freind a person she can talk to. but he is more so a minor character.

Double standered
why is that Gale and Katniss can sneek out get game and gather things outside the perimeter and not get into trouble for it. Plus they sell it and keep some of it. And do their parents know about any of this?
level two question
What is the pooint do you think about having the reaping. the reaping is the ritual with sending out a student from each district.
Facts
In the area of distric 12 (wich that is the name of the place) there is a population of 18,000 and i am gathering that they have a ritual of sending out 24 students 12 boys and 12 girls one from each ditrict into an unknown thing to fight for survival and the last one alive wins.24 is how many districs there are.and the aponents are chosen by names being drawn out of a bowl. Pg 18-19.
opinion
I think Gale and Katniss like each other and are going to get married :) a quote i base this on is, "see you in the square, wear something pretty..." this is just my opinion.
In the beginning
So far into my book the hunger games, i have learned a couple things one is that these people are living in an area where noone is to get out, it is deep in the wods and many dangers about there. Going further into the book a character named katniss (that i think is a very pretty name) is introduced to me as well as a young adelecent Gale who is 12 and katniss is 10. Gale calls katniss catnip as a nick name becuase when they first met he thought she said catnip and it just stuck.
